Nikuya 1-Year Craft Warranty

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Made to be used. Backed if something isn’t right.

The Nikuya 1-Year Craft Warranty is a 12-month written FULL WARRANTY, beginning on the date of purchase, for Nikuya knives against covered defects in materials or workmanship under normal intended use. No separate warranty registration is required.

Full Warranty

Under Republic Act No. 7394, “Full Warranty” is a legal designation for the remedy standard of a written warranty; it does not mean every form of damage is covered. For a covered defect, Nikuya will provide a remedy within a reasonable time and without charge. If reasonable attempts to remedy the covered defect do not resolve it, the customer may choose a refund or replacement without charge, subject to applicable law. Damage caused by unreasonable use or use outside the knife’s stated intended purpose may still fall outside warranty coverage.

Who and What Is Covered

The Craft Warranty applies only to Nikuya-branded knives purchased from Nikuya.ph or an authorized Nikuya sales channel by the original retail purchaser or a gift recipient who can provide valid proof of purchase. Non-knife products do not receive the 1-Year Craft Warranty; selected permanent non-knife products are instead covered by Nikuya Product Assurance. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

What We Stand Behind

Subject to review, covered issues may include:

  • defects in materials or workmanship;
  • structural failure under normal intended use;
  • blade or tang fracture during normal intended use;
  • handle separation or assembly failure not caused by misuse;
  • significant blade chipping during normal intended use;
  • corrosion or rust present on arrival; and
  • abnormal early corrosion that occurs despite proper care and normal intended use.

Rust, Patina, and Corrosion

Rust is not automatically excluded from warranty review. Carbon steel naturally develops patina and requires prompt cleaning and drying. Normal patina, ordinary surface rust caused by prolonged moisture, improper storage, or inadequate care is not a manufacturing defect. A knife that arrives corroded, or develops unusual corrosion unusually early despite proper care, should still be submitted for warranty review.

Blade Chipping and Bone Use

A chipped blade is not automatically excluded. Coverage depends on the knife, the task, and whether the product was used within its stated intended use.

If a knife is not designed for bone, frozen food, hard shells, prying, or twisting, damage caused by those uses may fall outside warranty coverage.

If Nikuya expressly markets a particular knife for a stated poultry, fish-bone, joint, or similar task, using that knife within the stated limits does not by itself void warranty coverage. A chip occurring during that intended use should be reviewed as a potential covered defect.

Blade Breakage

A blade or tang that breaks during normal intended use is treated as a potentially serious product failure and receives priority warranty and quality-control review. Breakage caused by prying, twisting, dropping, striking unsuitable hard materials, or other unreasonable use may fall outside warranty coverage.

What Normal Ownership Looks Like

A kitchen knife is a working tool. Edge dulling, sharpening requirements, normal scratches, cosmetic wear, and expected patina are part of ordinary ownership and are not manufacturing defects.

Examples Generally Outside Warranty Coverage

  • normal edge dulling and routine sharpening;
  • normal patina or cosmetic wear;
  • surface rust caused by leaving the product wet, prolonged moisture, or improper storage;
  • damage caused by use outside the product’s stated intended purpose;
  • prying, twisting, throwing, or using a knife as a screwdriver or impact tool;
  • cutting on glass, stone, metal, or other unsuitable hard surfaces;
  • bone or frozen-food damage where the specific knife is not expressly intended for that task;
  • dishwasher use, prolonged soaking, or other care practices contrary to Nikuya care instructions;
  • unauthorized repair, grinding, modification, or alteration that caused or contributed to the failure; and
  • accidental damage, loss, or theft.

Warranty Remedy

For a confirmed covered defect, Nikuya will provide a remedy without charge within a reasonable time. Depending on the issue and the customer’s rights under applicable law, the remedy may include repair, replacement, or refund. If reasonable attempts to remedy a covered defect do not resolve it, the customer may choose a refund or replacement without charge. Nothing in this policy reduces any broader remedy available under applicable Philippine law.

How to Make a Claim

Not sure if your issue is covered? Submit it anyway. Customers are not expected to diagnose a manufacturing defect themselves.

Use the official Nikuya Returns & Warranty form on nikuya.ph or email nikuya.ph@gmail.com. Facebook Messenger may be used for quick help, but formal warranty cases should be recorded through the website form or official support email.

We aim to review return, warranty and Product Assurance requests within 1 business day. Some cases may require additional information or physical inspection, and we’ll keep you updated while your case is being reviewed.

Please provide your name and contact email, order number or marketplace order reference, purchase channel, product name, approximate purchase or delivery date, and a description of what happened. Clear product photos and close-ups of the affected area can help us review the case faster.

Nikuya may ask a reasonable follow-up question or request a physical inspection when necessary. If a return is required for a covered claim, Nikuya will provide shipping instructions and cover reasonable return shipping. Safety-related structural failures such as blade or tang breakage receive priority review.

No separate warranty registration is required. For direct Nikuya.ph orders, Nikuya may verify the Shopify order record. For authorized marketplace or retail purchases, an official receipt, warranty card, marketplace order record, or other valid proof of purchase is sufficient.

Statutory Rights

The Craft Warranty is an additional written warranty and does not remove or reduce rights and remedies available to consumers under applicable Philippine law.
